The **Bark River Bravo Squad Leader** is a large and robust fixed knife, made in Michigan, USA. For years there was a demand for a Bravo 1 that was slightly longer, but with a clippoint shaped blade. The answer to this question is the Bravo Squad Leader. The blade is 1/4" thick, so 6.3 mm. That is massive! As such you never have to worry about the strength of the Bravo Squad Leader: this knife is built as a tank. Especially as a heavy duty bushcraft knife it is very well suited for the job.



The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won't break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).



The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.



The Bark River Bravo Squad Leader comes with a leather belt sheath (max. belt width 7.0 cm). On the side of the sheath you will find a loop for a firesteel.



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
