Military LED flashlights: 4 things you need to pay attention to
Military flashlights, it sounds as if you are dealing with a unique type of flashlight. However, a military flashlight is no more than a tactical flashlight. This leaves us with only one question, what makes a tactical flashlight suited for military use? There are a couple of things you need to pay attention to.
Military flashlights: robust and bright light
The body of a military flashlight is made of top-quality aluminium that is widely used in the aviation industry. This is exceptionally strong material and protects the interior of the light. Consequently, as a soldier, you are assured this flashlight will last a lifetime. Essential when you're on a mission abroad! The battery is kept in place by two little springs. These absorb the force released during high-impact movements such as shooting.
In terms of brightness, there is no limit. The strobe, a bright flashing mode, is also allowed. The size of the flashlight, however, is a different matter.
An easily accessible strobe light
Military flashlights have a strobe light that can be activated in a single motion. Having to think about where the strobe mode is, is literally and figuratively “killing” for a soldier. At the same time, the strobe light must produce an enormous amount of light at a high flashing frequency in order to blind the enemy.
Military LED flashlights are non-focusable
A flashlight for military use cannot be focused. Vibrations caused by shooting change the beam of a focusable light. And as a soldier, you always want to be assured of a stable light, especially during military operations. The Fenix TK16 and NiteCore P20 for example, meet all the requirements for a military flashlight. Many military units and AT teams use them and can no longer do without them!
Compatibility with a weapon mount
Military flashlights are best attached to a weapon mount or other mounting system. The ALG-00 is a high-quality mounting bracket for the Picatinny or Weaver rail of a rifle. A body diameter between 22 mm and 26 mm is ideal for this purpose. A slim body also means low weight. And the lower the weight, the better it will be for the soldier! In situations that require a lightning-fast response, a remote switch is indispensable. A great example is the Fenix AER-02. This flashlight has been enhanced with two switches: a regular and a “momentary-on” switch. Using special contra Velcro, you can attach the switch slightly above the rifle's grip. You can use your index finger to control the light.
Military flashlight: indispensable in airsoft
A military flashlight is also the perfect companion for airsofters. These lights are extremely strong, waterproof and designed to withstand intensive situations. With multiple light settings, such as a bright beam or strobe function, you can handle any situation. They are compact and easy to attach to your equipment, leaving your hands free at all times. Ideal for night missions or dark corners. Airsoft is a tactical team sport in which players use realistic replicas of firearms to re-enact missions and fire small plastic pellets (BBs). No wonder airsofters often choose military flashlights: reliable, practical and always ready for action!
