Leather strop to polish an already perfectly sharpened knife.

The **Lansky leather strop** is used as the last step in the sharpening process. It takes a sharpened knife from sharp to ultra-sharp. The strop doesn't remove any material, but smooths out minuscule irregularities. This makes the knife even sharper and gives it a mirror-shine finish! 

This strop doesn't contain a stropping compound. Leather naturally has a stropping effect. A stropping compound is an abrasive that can be added to the surface of a strop to make it more efficient or to give it a precise grit size.

Stropping is done in the direction of the back of your blade to avoid cutting in the leather itself. It is possible to add a stropping agent to increase the polishing qualities.

With a bit of fine paste on it you’re guaranteed to get a mirror finish and fine edge to your blade, I use my diamond set to fine then drop onto the fine and extra fine standard hones before stropping with paste and the leather hone. I’ve only once as yet used the sapphire hone and prefer the feel of leather and paste to polish
