And despite its compact size, this Leica Monovid is of excellent quality, just as you would expect from any Leica product. Both mechanically and optically, this monocular is a top-quality item.

This **Leica MONOVID 8x20 monocular** combines years of optical experience into binoculars for one eye. As such the Leica Monovid is very compact and lightweight. If you, for instance, go for a walk you will always have room in your pocket for this monocular.

Despite its compact size this Monovid has the quality you have grown accustomed to from Leica. Both mechanically and optically speaking this pair of binoculars belongs to the best of the best. It is, however, important to realise that smaller sized optics have a smaller exit pupil and a somewhat lower twilight factor. Properties that are noticeable in dark conditions.

You can extend the ocular. With it you determine the distance your eye needs to the back lens. In general you don't extend it if you are wearing glasses. Not a spectacle wearer? Extend the ocular to make sure you have a little more distance to the back lens.

Its close focus lens allows you to focus from a short distance, making this Monovid also ideal for viewing insects.

De Monovid is een zeer goede kijker. Het beeld is prachtig, natuurlijk, zeer scherp en detailrijk. De kijker is zeer compact, handzaam en licht. De bouwkwaliteit en afwerking zijn helemaal wat je van Leica verwacht. Topklasse.

Het compromis van 'een mono' blijkt in de praktijk veel kleiner dan verwacht. De gezichtshoek op 1000 meter is slechts 3 meter smaller dan de optisch vergelijkbare Ultravid 8 x 20 stereokijker. Maar de Monovid is wel ruim de helft kleiner én ruim de helft lichter. Na een paar uur wennen is het gebruik eigenlijk net zo vanzelfsprekend en sneller dan een stereo-kijker. Kijken met twee ogen open lijkt onnatuurlijk maar werkt ook verbazend goed. Tijdens 3 dagen North Sea Jazz festival blijken de prestaties in het donker ook meer dan uitstekend.

Zoek je en hele goede compacte en lichte kijker die je letterlijk in je broek- of jaszak meeneemt en tijdens het gebruik nauwelijks opvalt (hij verdwijnt vrijwel geheel in je hand als nodig) is de Monovid echt een aanrader.

Monoculaire ultra-compact, discret, image d'une clarté remarquable (bien évidemment aucune aberration chromatique) finition haut de gamme et je ne parle même pas de la lentille macro qui apporte encore un atout supplémentaire. 
Bref que du +++++++ à en faire oublier son prix:)
