This **Skerper stropping compound** is perfect if you are looking to polish the edges of your knives. When combined with a [stropping paddle](/en/ct/stropping-paddles.htm) or [shaving belt](/en/ct/clamp-and-shaving-belts.htm) you will have a powerful tool in hands to turn a blunt knife into a razor-sharp one. The Skerper Stropping Compound comes in different grain sizes. From very coarse to very fine.

## How do you apply a stropping compound?


Before use you need to heat up the strop. You can do so by holding it over a gas flame, or heat it with a blow dryer or paint stripper. Do, however, be careful that you don’t burn the strop or yourself! You should also heat up the compound after which you can spread it out over the compound. Especially when you use the grey (coarse) compound, properly preheating is a must.

Vraiment cette pâte d'étale mal sur le cuir, il faut la faire chauffer avec un sèche cheveux avant et même là le résultat est médiocre.

Het werkt goed, Ik smeer het op de strop met behulp van een haarföhn. Wanneer je de compound en strop lichtjes verwarmt, kun je het goed insmeren en verdelen over de gehele strop. 
Makkelijk om aan te brengen. Formaat is voldoende om de strop vele (!) malen in te smeren. Maw je doet er heel lang mee. De groene is medium-grit, ideaal voor het verfijnen na het slijpen.
