Ochsenkopf universal forestry axe Gold Rotband-Plus, OX 620 H-1257

Already own 2 Ochsenkopf Big Ox's for splitting and they're extremely well made. The heads will never come off so thought I'd go for one of these forest axes as I need one for felling work. It's used to free trapped saws saving the carrying of a second saw into the forest and it's used for driving wedges. Feels like it could be a tad heavier so it takes stronger blows to the wedges to achieve the contact you're looking for. It has a nice feel to it and a very sharp edge. The only criticism I have is the shape of the Rotband sleeve verses the actual handle profile. It's rounded nicely on the front but has a square profile on the back. It's only a minor thing and wouldn't detract from the performance and lifespan of the axe but it would just look better rounded off. All in all, an excellent axe that will last a long time and it looks the part too 👍
