Are your knives in need of sharpening?

The **Skerper Pocket Stone** is a compact sharpening stone with two sides. One coarse side with diamond particles to sharpen damaged or blunt knives. And one fine ceramic side to sharpen your knife or axe razor-sharp. The sharpening stone will easily fit in your backpack or pocket and is therefore always there when you need it. As such you will never have to use a blunt knife ever again.


The advantage of the hard ceramic side and the diamond-coated side is that the surface will remain flat. As such. you will enjoy this Skerper Pocket Stone for years to come! In addition, with these hard materials you can even sharpen knives made from extremely hard powder types of steel.


### Use and maintenance


You don't need water or oil to use this stone. You can immediately use it and when you are done simply pop it back in your pocket. We do, however, recommend rinsing it off occasionally with lukewarm water and perhaps some soap. 


### Sharpening


Diamond needs to be sharpened before use. When you just start using the sharpening stone it is much coarser than the final grind. First try out the sharpening stone on larger tools before you start using it on finer tools. The diamond-coated side of this sharpening stone will feel finer after using it a couple of times.

Met de Skerper pocket stone kan je heel goed je bijltje goed scherp houden als je 'op pad' bent.
Het weegt bijna niks, neemt nauwelijks ruimte in, maar doet zn werk heel goed. Dit geldt overigens ook voor de DC4 van Fallkniven. Beiden zijn fijne steentjes.


Goed product om je mes zeer scherp te krijgen. Snelle levering en goed advies gekregen. Ook heel fijn zijn de videos die ik heb gekregen over hoe je een mes moet slijpen plus extra survival advies

Ik bestelde deze omdat ik graag een handzaam en duurzaam slijp en wetcombi zocht, in de aangegeven grits. Ik wilde ook eens een diamantslijpplaat uitproberen.

De maat is wat ik zocht, hij is zwaar voor het formaat. Nieuw uit verpakking zou ik op bass van vergelijkingsmateraal echter denken, dat de diamantslijpzijde een veel grover grit heeft dan de opgegeven 360. En de keramische wetzijde juist fijner uitvalt dan de aangegeven 1000 grit.

Bij gebruik van de diamantplaat vallen me enkele dingen op. 1. De grove korrels laten direct los en veroorzaken een naar geluid, met soms diepe krassen. 2. Bij gebruik worden zowel plaat als carbonstalen mes licht magnetisch; dat geldt ook voor het weggenomen staal. 3. De diamantplaat slibt niet dicht, en is makkelijk te reinigen. 4. De diamantplaat verliest bizar snel zijn werking, en doet dan niet meer wat hij wel behoort te doen: slijpen. 

De keramische wetsteen vind ik dan weer niet voldoen aan 1000 grit, hij voelt eerder als een 2000 of 3000. Hij is wel makkelijk te reinigen. En daarmee mis ik een belangrijke stap tussen slijpen op een vermeende 360 grit en wetten op iets dat naar mijn ervaring aanzienlijk fijner is dan 1000 grit. Dat houdt in, dat ik op pad alsnog een extra steen mee zou moeten nemen.

Ik ben niet tevreden over dit product, en zou het niet aanbevelen voor serieus gebruik, als enige slijp en wetmiddel. Daarvoor slijt de diamantplaat echt veel te snel en is de keramische zijde te fijn.

Voor een enkele touch up gaat het nog wel, maar dan is er nog het probleem van grove korrels die snel loslaten en het magnetisch maken van het te slijpen object.
